Maintaining the health and beauty of your skin is of primary importance. Over time, day-to-day living can take its toll on your skin. Exposure to sun, smoking, poor diet and nutrition, alcohol consumption, stress, and genetics, all play a role in how your skin looks and feels as you age.

Palomar Icon laser treatment is an excellent cosmetic treatment designed to produce younger and healthier looking skin, by treating conditions such as:

  • wrinkles
  • age spots (sun-induced freckles)
  • dark spots
  • blotchy skin colour
  • broken capillaries
  • rosacea
  • redness of the face and neck
  • uneven pigmentation

What are the advantages of Palomar Icon treatments?

  • The treatment is quick, gentle and non-invasive (no needles or surgery required).
  • There is no interruption of routine activities.
  • The procedure requires little or no “downtime” and has a low risk of side effects, being ideal for patients with active lifestyles.
  • Lesions resulted from aging and sun damage can be effectively treated on the face, neck, chest, or any other body area.
  • The treatment leads to a more even, luminous, younger looking skin.
  • Dramatic results can be seen within a very short time.
  • In addition, PhotoRejuvenation is the only procedure that can treat vascular redness, the appearance of rosacea, pigmented brown spots, sun damage, skin texture, and collagen structure all at once, with very minimal discomfort.

How it works:

The Palomar Icon uses an Intense Pulse Light (IPL) that is transmitted through a small, smooth handpiece which is gently placed over the skin. The light then penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions, damaging them. A process of skin regeneration then takes place, and the treated area is replaced by younger, healthier skin tissues.

Skin Treatments like Palomar Icon Photo facials often consist of full-face treatment or treatment of isolated body areas like the hands or chest. The treatment regimen protocol usually consists of one to six treatments administered at three to four week intervals, depending on the patient. The treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Dramatic improvement is usually seen in one treatment. Multiple treatments may be necessary, but not in all cases.

You should avoid sun exposure and tanning (including artificial tanning products and procedures) before and after your treatments. Also, you should discontinue the use of blood thinners such as aspirin or other types or anti-platelet
or anti-coagulant herbal remedies including Gingko biloba and Vitamin E.

Is it uncomfortable?

Most patients tolerate the procedure quite well and don’t require any topical anesthetic prior to the procedure. You will see the brown spots darken immediately after treatment and then flake off during the following weeks. There may be mild redness in the surrounding skin. Normal activities can be resumed within 24 hours.

Can I combine this treatment with other “No Downtime” treatments for enhanced results?

Combining no downtime procedures gives the best results without invasive surgery. Procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic to soften and erase lines in the upper face including forehead, frown and crow’s feet, fillers such as Restylane, used to fill out folds and wrinkles, and the enhance the lips, and laser procedures to tighten the skin and reduce wrinkles and acne scars are some of the treatments that can optimize the results achieved by the Palomar Icon Photofacial. Chemical peels and microdermabrasions done in conjunction with a treatment program further maintains results achieved.
